To the best of my knowledge, all dogs below are currently up for adoption in the San Diego, Orange or LA Counties. ( ) The various rescue agencies have their own pre-screening requirements for potential adopters. The sites that I typically pull these from are listed at the bottom of this mailing in case you or a friend are seriously considering a fuzzy and want to check out the pre-screening procedures.

They're in a shepherd rescue but I'd say there is a little something else in there. Any guesses?Aurora The "A" pups are plump and happy, brave and friendly. We aren't sure of their mix but they definitely adorable. They love people and are getting quite a kick out of hanging out with the "big boys" in their foster homes! Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way! Look at that face! She's looking for a foster parent - hint hint...Scout Scout loves his sisters and can't wait to build more confidence. He is working on hanging with the big dogs! Its hard to believe that we rescued two litters in one day with the same story. The S pups were turned in by their "owner" after their unspayed female had puppies. Once they reached an age that the person couldn't handle, they were dumped at a high kill shelter with the comment "they are too much for us". The S pups are all about 3 mos old, ready for their homes, under weight and not well socialized. Although they are extremely friendly and try really hard not to be scared by big dogs. They absolutely adore one another and look to each other for comfort and security. Their foster home is pushing their envelope to get their confidence up. These are wonderful pups with great potential! Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. How precious this little cutie is - looks nothing like her siblingsSparkle Her name says it all! The one "misfit" in her litter (where did that coat come from?), Sparkle makes up for it in personality and charm. She loves the Black Eyed Peas, especially Fergie and would like you to notice that her eyeliner is 100% natural. Sparkle loves everyone, is all about fun. Puppies are a life-long commitment. She'd love to be part of a multi-dog, multi-kid family again...Lacey Lovely Lacey is a love bug and will do nearly anything she can to crawl in your lap or be as close to you as possible! Her owners had too many dogs and turned her in to the shelter. Lacey is 3 years old and previously lived with kids and other dogs. We don't know if there were cats but we suspect that Lacey will love anything that she lays her eyes on. She is an all around good girl! A poor baby that isn't letting what happened to her get her downMaude "Yes, I get by with a little help from my friends." This song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and made famous by the Beatles might also be the favorite song of Maude, a sweet twelve week old puppy who is so happy that she has lots of new friends who have helped her through some very difficult times. Here's her sad story. Maude was attacked by a large dog and her right eye severely injured. Maude's first friend was a Good Samaritan who found her and took her to the vet to have the eye treated with all costs paid by the Good Samaritan. Treatment included suturing the eye closed. Maude, her paperwork, and her medications then made their way to a Department of Animal Services facility where met more friends - the vet staff - who evaluated her, cared for her (we hear she "ate ravenously") and performed a third eyelid flap repair surgical procedure. Then Maude's third new friend arrived when one of Rescue's dedicated volunteers picked her up and brought her to us. We are positive that she will be in a foster home soon so she can be cared for and loved. We have been told that the sutures will remain in place for two weeks and then her eye will be medically revaluated. We are so happy that Maude has made so many new friends! Puppies are a life-long commitment. They need time, training, vet care and healthy feeding to become good canine citizens. Don't even think of adopting a puppy unless you intend to invest the time and money and commitment required, and you can expect to lose a few good shoes along the way! - CSR |

Look at those eyes! Don't they just connect with your soul?If you've watched or attended a dog show, you already know about the different categories of dogs. German Shepherds, for example, are a herding dog. Labrador Retrievers are a sporting dog. And no doubt about it, Casey is a Labrador Retriever. In fact, he's quite happy to be one of those jovial, fun loving, exuberant family dogs who win you over with their personality and their amazingly "kind" eyes. Here's Casey's story. Casey was found running loose. He was very thin and looks as if he had been wandering for quite some time. In spite of this, he has a soft, beautiful coat of doggie fur. He was so happy to see his rescuer that he jumped in her lap as she sat next to him while he had a long refreshing drink of water - that was one thirsty boy! True to his breed, Casey loves people and life. He loves to go on walks (he walks very nicely on leash) and runs. There's lots of playful energy in this boy and with his eagerness, he could accidentally knock over a small child. Maybe a home with teens??? Certainly a home with a family that understands and knows about the breed. Of course, to know them is to love them! We're not certain yet how he is with other dogs or with cats so we'll update you as we get to know him better. He's a quick learner and already knows the "sit" command. What's the bottom line on this boy? Casey will charm you with his kisses and his eagerness to please. If you are interested in meeting me, please contact Teresa via email at baltao@sbcglobal.net. - CSR |

Kind of a wacky pirate type marking on her eye. A shy little girl who needs some positive reinforcement.Patches von Salzburg Patches von Salzburg is the most adorable 4 month old shepherd mix puppy. Mom is a white shepherd (mix?), daddy is once again missing in action. Patches is a little scared right now not understanding what's going on with her world, but puppies snap out of it in no time and she will be the happiest and cutest girl. We like to joke around that it looks like someone put make up on her one eye but didn't have time to do it on the other - it gives her such a cute look. She will be probably around 60-65 pounds once fully grown. (it's out estimate) Come meet this cutie patootie and take her home! - GS |

A typical lab - still a puppy at 4 years oldHarpo Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever (purebred) Age: 4 years Gender: Male Weight: Other: Altered: Yes Ref. no.: 400 Handsome Harpo, that’s me! My family could no longer keep me and took me to a scary shelter where everyone fell in love with me! Now that I am safe in rescue, I’m hankering for a new family to call my own. Even at 4 years old, I am still very much a puppy and an energetic boy. I am good with other dogs, and I a bit too energetic for young kids under the age of 12 years. As for felines, they entice me. While I haven’t chased the cats I’ve met, I do bark at them and get excited, but may be ok with dog savvy cats. I know stuff like sit and stay, but would benefit from basic obedience class with my new folks. I am housebroken and lovable, and am looking for my furever home now. A slim gal just looking for love - will it be you that she falls in love with?Sadie Breed: Yellow Labrador Retriever (purebred) Age: 1-2 years Gender: Female Weight: Other: Altered: Yes I'm Sadie, the kind of dog that will melt your heart. You won't find a better, more well behaved and well mannered young lady! I love everyone and other dogs! As a shelter favorite, the staff cheered when rescue came for me. While they were all so nice to me there, I was getting pretty sad thinking I'd never find a family to love again. Now, I'm ready to meet and share the rest of my life with you. Trust me - if you meet him, you will want to adopt him - period!Jack * Small * Male * Breed: Min Pinscher/Chihuahua Mix * Age: 1 Year Old * Weight: 13.00 lbs * FOCAS ID#: 20214 * Gender: Male * Size: Small * Type: Dog * Care: Needs loving home Jack is one lucky dog! Running the streets as a stray, Jack suffered a crushing blow to his left rear leg as he entered a live trap. The impact instantly fractured his hip joint. FOCAS immediately stepped in and Jack received the necessary surgery to repair the damage. Today Jack is living in a loving foster home and well on his way to a complete recovery. When you meet Jack the first thing you notice is that wagging tail – it goes 900 MPH. He is happy to see you, despite his shyness. Once you settle in he warms up nicely. Jack loves to give kisses AND sitting in your lap is a must. For more information on Jack, please call Kathy at 858-205-9974. - FOCAS |

She's one of the newest additions to the rescue and my bet is on a pretty quick adoption once people see how insanely sweet she isSavannah When I'm with my human family I love, love, love to snuggle up for pets and hugs. Nothing makes me happier than being with people and getting lots of love, and giving some in return. I like to play with tennis balls, but would much rather be playing with other friendly dogs. My favorite game with my canine friends is to play chance and roll around on the ground. I am super friendly with dogs and love to run around with them. I've met kids as young as 6 and loved them. I'm a little on the shy side, but people of all ages really bring out the best in me. Other types of animals I've met include cats and when I interact with them I am a little shy and won't approach. But since I'm new the program, please keep checking back or contact PBRSD for more info as my foster family gets to know me better. In case you're wondering, I do ask to go out when I gotta go. People tell me that I'm more adoptable if I know things. So far I have mastered sit. The nice people at the animal shelter taught me this, and I really enjoy learning new things. I like to get yummy treats for doing good things, and getting lots of praise from people, so I will be lots of fun in training classes. My foster family knows me pretty well and they think the perfect family for me would be one that has a fairly quiet home where I won't be stressed by lots of noise and activity. Since I'm a little on the shy side sometimes it takes a few minutes for me to warm up to people, but after that I love you! A am still a young adult with plenty of energy though, so regular walks is a must. I'm fairly new to the program, so keep checking back for updates as my foster family gets to know me better, or better yet come meet me at ann upcoming adoption event! - PBRSD |

About the FuzziesThe Fuzzies were born in 2003 as a collection of currently available dogs that appealed to me as I looked through various rescue and shelter web sites. My hope was that friends would consider a rescue or shelter dog for the next addition to their families once they saw how many adorable ones were out there. Kim's Fuzzies has grown quite a bit since then but the goal is still the same. I want to present that there are other places to adopt new family members than backyard breeders, puppy mills and pet stores (Please note that I support the aspirations of legitimate breeders to better their breeds without an eye towards pimping their dogs for money). I want to show people that their images of shelter and rescue dogs may be wrong - there are stunning dogs that end up in shelters and move to rescue every day. There are also, unfortunately, stunning and adoptable dogs that get euthanized every day because there are never enough rescues to help solve the problem. Awareness is everything. Please do not assume that, if you see a dog you like and then they aren't on the next list that they have been adopted. I rotate the fuzzies I include to give the best exposure to a greater number of potential adoptees. Always call the shelter or rescue and ask the status of any dog you find yourself drawn to. Additionally, if you are drawn to an animal but aren't sure you're ready for the lifelong commitment, please consider fostering (a temporary arrangement that pulls them from the danger of euthanization to live with you for a short time until they find the perfect forever family). It is so incredibly rewarding and addictive. Let me know if you need information about how to do this and I'll hook you up. The sites that I typically pull these from are as follows, in case you or a friend are seriously considering a fuzzy and want to check out the pre-screening procedures: San Diego Department of Animal Control - CS Friends of County Animal Shelters - FOCAS San Diego Humane Society - HS Rancho Coastal Humane Society - RC Helen Woodward Animal Center - HW Westside German Shepherd Rescue of L.A. - GS Labradors and Friends - LAB Beagles and Buddies - BB Pit Bull Rescue San Diego Coastal Shepherd Rescue - CSR

Please, if you visit one of the fuzzies on my list, whether you adopt or not, drop me a line and let me know your opinions of the pup as this can be helpful to me in finding the perfect home for some of these dears. And of course, if you adopt, please drop me a line so I can include you as a success story for your new family member.
